Thank you for supporting Retrak's feeding program in the Oromio region of Ethiopia, which is now coming to an end. It was set-up as an emergency program during the worst drought that the region had suffered in 60 years. Over the past two years, Retrak has provided supplemental feeding to over 1,000 children at two primary schools in Oromia.
Your support has helped children like Shukria, a fifth grader at Goro Raya Primary School. Shukria has three brothers and five sisters and says that "before the commencement of the feeding project, I used to come to school intermittently. I rather prefer to stay at home or go to the field to search for something to eat. Even if I come to school my attention could not be on education but about my hunger. However the meal service at school helped me concentrate all my attention on education and I regularly come to school. I really do not have words to express my feeling about this project, but can only say thank you."
The drought situation in Oromia has eased enough that we feel comfortable discontinuing the feeding program. But the thousands of children living on the streets of Addis Ababa are still in desperate need of support. Please consider continuing your support of Retrak by donating to Retrak Ethiopia here.
