HOPE school students belong to Kannagi Nagar slum community which is known for its antisocial activities and crime, violence and drugs. Children living in this slum community get easily entangled in the vicious circle of crime and violence if left unattended. These children need to be engaged in order to not fall prey to any crime.  Covid- 19 also left an extreme impact on these children. The learning outcomes of the school going children got severely affected and so was the state of the students studying in HOPE school who also belong to Kannagi Nagar.

It  was quiet challenging for the teachers to get the students back on track of learning as they had lost the interest to learn when they were back to school after 18 months long closure of school.

All the teachers were doing their best by introducing various strategies to learn the concepts of the subjects. And also the 10th   Std. students were feeling inadequate and the pressure of appearing for their public exam in April 2023. So as a measure, the school management conducted special classes apart from the other extra classes that the students were attending. These special classes was conducted for 10 days just to prepare the students for the final exam. Two days each was dedicated for learning the important concepts and recap the lessons of a subject.

A total of 34 students were to appear for the public exam. They would come in early in the morning and would sit through the day and study. They were provided with breakfast in the morning and snacks in the evening. These classes boosted the morale of the students and the result is they performed well. Out of 34 students, 30 students passed with flying colors. Remaining 4 students could not clear one subject which they will rewrite the exam in 20 days’ time and be ready to join their 11th std., along with their classmates.

All thanks to you for showing faith in HOPE foundation and standing with us in educating the children of HOPE School.
