HOPE foundation is proud to share that the school it runs in the Kannaginagar slum in Chennai received its third level of recognition to became HOPE foundation Matriculation High School in the academic year 2018-19.
It also witnessed another milestone in the same year when the 1st batch of 24 students appeared for the 10th Board Exams. 23 students passed with flying colors while one boy could not make it due to family problems. School and the teachers are helping the boy in preparing him for a reexam and they are confident that he will make it in the second attempt.
As for the Kannaginagr slum where the school is established is a house for many criminals and is seen as the home of all crimes in Chennai – which means employers refuse to hire anyone residing in Kannagi Nagar, be it for white-collar jobs or menial ones. With no means of livelihood people from this area are now stuck in a cycle of poverty and crime and children here can easily get entangled in this trap
HOPE foundation through the school is making continued efforts to develop the children studying in the school adopt a path to progress through the quality education received at school.
At this time, we take the opportunity to thank each and everyone for supporting us in our endeavor to create robust future where the poverty of these students won’t trail them but lead them to the path of excellence and success.
