As humanitarian funding declines and market prices continue to rise, internally displaced persons (IDPs) in the Sebacare4 site remain under severe economic pressure. Many households are struggling to meet even the most basic needs, including essential medical care and food. Vulnerable groups, particularly the elderly, persons with disabilities, and families with chronic health conditions, are disproportionately affected.
Through the support of GlobalGiving and implemented by OSSHD, 39 IDPs received a one-time cash transfer of 1,500 Birr.
The following testimonies provide direct insight into how this assistance was utilized and highlight the continued need for sustained and potentially scaled support to mitigate increasing vulnerability within the displaced community.
My name is Letay H. I am 45 years old and displaced from Tsegedie woreda in the Western Tigray Zone. Currently, I am living in the Sebacare4 IDP site.
First of all, I would like to thank OSSHD and the GlobalGiving. With the 1,500 Birr assistance I received, at that time my son, who has epilepsy, fell and was injured, and I was able to cover part of his medical expenses.
Once again, I would like to express my gratitude for the support I received. I humbly request that your assistance continue, and if possible, that it be provided monthly and the amount be increased.
My name is Abeba M. I am 50 years old and displaced from Kafta Humera woreda in the Western Tigray Zone. Currently, I am living in the Sebacare4 IDP site.
First of all, I would like to thank OSSHD and the GlobalGiving. With the 1,500 Birr assistance I received, since I did not have cooking oil at the time.
At present, due to the decrease in the number of humanitarian organizations and the increase in the price of goods, displaced people, especially those of us who are sick and persons with disabilities, have become highly vulnerable and exposed to serious problems. Therefore, I kindly request that your assistance continue.
3) My name is Berihu H. I am 55 years old and displaced from Setit woreda in the Western Tigray Zone. Currently, I am living in the Seba-care 4 IDP site.
First of all, I would like to thank OSSHD, the OSSHD social worker, and the GlobalGiving. The reason is that at the time, I had run out of firewood and charcoal and was facing difficulty because I had nothing to cook with. With the 1,500 Birr assistance I received, I was able to buy firewood and charcoal and cook food for my children.
Therefore, I would like to again express my gratitude for the assistance provided to me, and I kindly request that your support continue.
