Rebuilding Futures through Connectivity

By Stephanie Fuentes | Project Assistant

Introduction: Beacons of Hope – Connectivity and Survival

As we know, in the Gaza Strip, the aspirations of a generation are under siege. War has devastated infrastructure, leaving over 90% of schools, businesses, and institutions destroyed and tens of thousands of workers displaced. Families, already stretched to their limits, cannot afford the minimal living essentials, forcing dreams to fade into uncertainty. The most basic tools—electricity, the internet, and safe spaces—are luxuries few can access.

Amidst this despair, Hope Hubs began with an idea to assist remote workers in the Gaza Strip in returning to work by creating a workspace using available materials. Starting with a simple tent, it eventually evolved into the first co-working space in Rafah and extended to Deir Al-Balah and Egypt.

The Mission: Rebuilding Futures Through Access to Remote Work and Freelancing Opportunities

The Hope Hub initiative was born out of a desire to support individuals in Gaza during times of war, allowing them to continue their work. Thanks to your contributions, Hope Hub, thousands of Palestinians in Rafah and Deir al Balah were able to reconnect to their online jobs, while also helping Palestinians in Egypt network and establish connections to secure employment opportunities. With your help, we can extend our reach to a wider audience!

Our Objectives:

  • Create safe, resource-equipped environments for displaced remote workers.
  • Provide uninterrupted, renewable energy-powered online education.
  • Empower communities to drive long-term socio-economic development.

Achievements to Date: A Track Record of Impact

Despite the immense challenges, the Hope Hubs initiative has delivered transformative results:

Phase I (2024): Pilot Launch

  • Secured $14,000 in funding, enabling the establishment of the first Hope Hub space in Rafah
  • Supported 150 freelancers and remote students with over 18,640 hours of operational activity and 960 hours of training.
  • Provided access to vital resources, including electricity, internet, and quiet spaces to work.

Phase II (2024): Expansion and Growth

  • Raised $71,000 through crowdfunding partnerships, enabling the launch of a second Hope Hub in Deir-al-Balah, and the third Hope Hub in Cairo, Egypt.
  • Served an additional 4,000 free lancers and remote workers who fled Gaza, ensuring they could continue their work even during their displacement.
  • Installed solar panels, creating a model of sustainability and resilience.

Phase III (2025): Scaling for Impact

  • Targeting $75,000 to maintain the operations of the Hope Hubs to continue to serve 4,500 freelancers and remote workers in Gaza and Egypt.
  • Preparing to replicate the successful model in Khan Younis, opening access to 400 more beneficiaries.

Looking Ahead: 2025 and Beyond

The Hope Hubs have played a crucial role in keeping Gaza’s freelancers and entrepreneurs tethered to the global economy. Amidst power outages, unstable infrastructure, and the constant spectre of war, HopeHub provides training, resources, and a sense of community to those striving to build their futures in the most challenging of circumstances. Our roadmap for 2025 includes:

  1. Completing the internet infrastructure for expanded learning and training spaces.
  2. Installing additional solar panels to power sustainable growth.
  1. Serving 10,000 freelancers and remote workers across the 3 hubs, including the launch of a fourth location in Egypt.
  2. Establishing long-term partnerships with NGOs, businesses, and community leaders to secure sustainable funding.

Stories That Inspire: The Heart of the Hub

The Hope Hubs are more than numbers; they’re a space where lives are transformed.

  • Freelancer, without a stable place to work, where I knew I could count on the basics like electricity and internet, I would have lost everything,” he said. “HopeHub gave me more than just a desk — it gave me the confidence to keep going.”.
  • “Despite everything, wallah, I continue to find ways to inspire hope and resilience not just for myself but for the community around me,” Algoul said. “We will teach the world what resilience means.”

These are not just stories—they are the seeds of Gaza’s future. Each freelancer and remote worker who walks into the Hope Hub is a testament to what’s possible when we believe in the power of connectivity and innovation.

Call to Action: Join Us in Transforming Lives

The Hope Hubs have shown what’s possible when compassion meets action. But we need your help to continue this vital work. Every dollar raised goes directly to:

  • Expanding and sustaining the Hope Hubs operations.
  • Providing freelancers and workers with essential tools and resources.
  • Offering a path of hope and resilience for Gaza’s workers to rebuild their futures.

Together, we can ensure that connectivity and opportunities remain a source of light even in the most difficult circumstances.

Visit our website to learn more about our movement today. Your support will transform not just lives but entire communities, ensuring that innovation, co-working, and education remain the cornerstone of Gaza’s recovery.
