Spring at Jemo House

By Caroline Kouns | Operations Manager

Christmas 2024
Christmas 2024

We're excited to share some of the amazing things that happened in 2024 – and our plans for the year ahead. From ensuring everyone got three square meals a day to keeping up with the mountain of laundry, and making sure our pad kits reached the women who needed them, donors' support made a big difference! Each smile on the faces of the children at Jemo House and women blessed by The Pad Project is a testament to their generosity.

The children thoroughly enjoyed their Christmas at Jemo House. They excitedly decorated the tree, not normally a Kenyan tradition but one introduced during our founder Jessie's extended COVID visit. They enjoyed a festive feast of cake, soda, sweets, and of course, plenty of chicken and beef. They proudly showed off the new clothes they received.

In 2024, donations enabled the building of a small guest house in the Jemo House grounds. This house will provide lodging for visiting administrators and volunteer groups who will be supporting our programs. We anticipate this new accommodation will help greatly with future mission opportunities. Work began in September and is now nearly finished, with only the septic tank and water tank installations remaining.

Jessie and her father, Stephen, enjoyed a wonderful week-long visit to Maseno, Kenya last fall. They were delighted to see the children thriving and especially enjoyed getting to know the four newest members of the Jemo House family.

We're thrilled to be able to welcome to our home, siblings Emmanuel and Michelle, cousins to two of our children. We're so happy this family can stay connected, as we believe strongly in family ties. They're adjusting well to the lively household and are especially excited to be back in school after some time away.
