Dear Benefactor,
We are happy to share the success story of Asha M!
Asha is Margadarshi’s singer! loves to sign and aspires to be a professional singer. She is 20 years old now and is an inmate of our Residential Support, from the age of 13. She is so vivacious and full of life, but her childhood days was not so. It was marked by illness, disability and constant visits to hospitals.
Asha was born in Menasinoodu Gollrahatti, a small village in Chitradurga District, Karnataka, India, on February 24, 2002, as a premature baby, the first of the four children of Mahalingappa and Yashoda. She weighed less than 1½ kilos, but with her mother’s loving care gained weight within a month. Usually babies at 9th month will stand, but that was not the case with Asha. Her parents took her to various hospitals and during one such visit, it was confirmed that her right leg is deformed. Slowly, Asha began to walk (limp) when she was 4 years old.
None of the physical limitations hindered Asha's intelligence. At the age of 5, she was enrolled in a nearby school. Her parents came to know about Margadarshi, and holistic services we provide for women with disabilities. When Asha was 13 years old, Margadarshi admitted her in a school at Bangalore and also provided appropriate calliper for her right leg.
Asha passed Class X with 62.88%. She then completed her Pre-University Education in 1st Classfrom St. Anne’s Girls Pre-University College, Bangalore. She is currently pursuing her 2nd year Semester in B.Sc - Rehabilitation (pertaining various kinds of disability), from St. Ann's Degree College Bangalore. Along with her studies, she attends online competitive exams, as she is very keen to achieve big and be a Role Model.
“There are many unseen hands behind me working for my success. There are many behind this smile on my face and I remember them all with gratitude” says Asha proudly.
