Anniversary: 10 years Verein für krebskranke Kinder Harz e.V. ( Association for children with cancer Harz e.V.)
The Association for Children with Cancer Harz e.V. celebrates its 10th anniversary in November, in late autumn 2010 the initiative for children with cancer was founded in Wernigerode, which was transferred to the general Harz Children's Cancer Association just a few weeks later. Started with only 13 founding members, today, with almost 180 sponsoring, honorary and active members, you look at almost 100 events and just as many supported families and affected children.Successful series of events were set up and new projects financed with the Harz Children's Cancer Cup, the Harz Charity Run and the Cancer Forum.
The association's board has been active since 2016 with around 65 hours a week and supports the families and children affected by cancer in a variety of ways. More than 5,000 registrations for the cenral stem cell donor database, the preventive sun protection program "SUNPASS", as well as the largest recreation facility for children with cancer in Northern Germany "Haus am Bernsteinsee"could only be created thtough the long-term support of donors, sponsors, friends, companions and association members.
Maximilia Arnold Wölfe Camp
After the camp had to be canceled at short notice in April due to COVID-19, the 2nd "wolf camp" was now open from 8-11.October. The reduced adventure camp could start with a hygiene concept tested by the Gifhorn Health Department. 6 instead of 9 families with children with cancer came from different regions to spend 4 eventful days at our facility "Haus am Bernsteinsee".
Unfortunately there was a corona infection of a player in the professional team of VfL Wolfsburg, so that the patron Maximilian Arnold could not come to the families in the camp tent himself. In addition to a video message from Maximilian, the employees of VfL Wolfsburg also brought all of the camp clothing, including signed autograph cards for all children! With lots of new impressions from the day, we went to the log hluses to relax and sleep, because at the next day we had a trip together to the VfL Wolfsburg stadium Volkswagen Arena in Wolfsburg. On the last day of the camp, all the children received mementos from their participation in the camp and it was obviously difficult for everyone to go home, but they had a lot of impressions and many beautiful highlights in their luggage. So the 2nd camp ended on Sunday at noon, which was a little different due to the corona - but at least as great as the first camp. The team at Haus am Bernsteinsee now hopes that another camp can be held in April 2021, everyone stays healthy and, of course, Maximilian Arnold's contract extension at VfL Wolfsburg, so that we can plan and complete more "Wolves camps" with him.
We still need your support!
10 months with COVID-19 leaves some marks on an association like ours. Social distancing, the economic inclination of some of our partners and the cancellation of our famous major events don't make it easier to generate donations. Donations that are needed, for example, to maintain our holiday complex "Haus am Bernsteinsee". So we need your support.Donate to our association and support our valuable work for all the families who have a child with cancer in their midst.
We thank you for your trust and support and wish you a happy Christmas. Stay healthy and take care about yourself and also everyone around you.
