The Barrio Planta Project (BPP) provides relevant educational opportunities to hundreds of children in overlooked communities in Nicaragua with high-quality programs in ESL, Computers, the Arts, and more. BPP covers the cost of students enrollment and tuition through donations. In February, our school year begins, and we are hosting a fundraiser now to secure the enrollment of our students for the upcoming school year.
Nicaragua is the second poorest country in the Western Hemisphere, and public school systems are drastically underfunded. Crucial courses relevant to today's global economy such as English as a Second Language and Computer Science are not included in the curriculums. In addition, our students in Nicaragua face a lot of obstacles, like lack of access to the internet, limited medical care, and adverse weather conditions that often prevent them from making it to school.
The Barrio Planta Project (BPP) provides supplementary educational programs to underserved communities that are focused on creating a more inclusive and effective educational experience for students who do not have the resources. These programs are focused on instilling creativity, enhancing confidence, facilitating international communication, and developing critical thinking skills so students can become self-sufficient adults.
In 2022, this project will provide enrollment for 5 students in BPP, allowing them to mitigate the impact of poverty on their futures and contribute to their families and communities.
