Walk with us and enjoy the happiness of our children-You are part of their achievements

These past months we have a lot to share with you:

Our kids enjoy Christmas; they received toys, clothes and many other presents. The Extra Bases gave them a tablet with educational games as their Christmas wish.  It was a beautiful time; our children received visits from people interested in helping them to achieve some of their goals as having a bicycle and/or a basket ball.

We received other kids; some are siblings from a new born of then days to twin sisters of six years old.  At the moment we have a boy that it’s being with us for almost a year and a half, he is growing to be a gentlemen a great student, we are very proud of him.

In January our kids start at school, some of them are from Head Start to third grade. Our Tutors are working with them to help them in their studies.  Some of them have problems at school, some do not know the letters and/or how to read and/or write their name because the lack of interest from their parents.

During this past month we have the privilege of serving fifteen kids.  Some needed special care as a neurologist and a physical therapy.  There are three receiving therapy from our Psychologist to help them, another one is receiving speech therapy.  We are experiencing the happiness of seen them recover and enjoying every day as they achieve new changes in their health and/or conduct.

We continue serving as many kids as we can, our Home is open to help them in every way they may need.  Our personnel is compromise with our children in a special way, some of our Caregivers has being with us for many years, they have the experience and the heart to help our kids.

This past year we started a vegetable garden, it have grow to provide for the Home and to sell some products so we can get funds to provide for our children, for their needs.

You are an important part of everything that is happening at Hogar de Niños Regazo de Paz, and we feel very bless of having you as part of our team.

The translation of “Hogar de Niños Regazo de Paz” is: Home for kids, a lap of peace

Together we raise our voice against child abuse.  Thank You!

God bless you,

Magdalena Jimenez Jaume, Director

Hogar de Niños Regazo de Paz (Home for Children, Lap of Peace)

We have provided services that include, but are not limited to: clothes, shelter, nutritional needs, complete medical care, transportation to/from school, the services of a psychologist, psychiatrist, occupational therapist, and speech therapist, after-school tutoring by professional tutors, community excursions, recreation (to museums, the circus, the beach, etc.), and participation in organized sports teams and summer camp. Thus, our vision is to provide children- battered, abused, abandoned, or victimized by domestic violence- with a home where their basic and emotional needs will be met, thereby offering them an environment that fosters the happy, healthy development of their character.

We also work to eradicate the instance of child abuse in our community by conducting educational workshops in schools and community settings which discuss what constitutes child abuse, and how to effectively prevent it.

Since our official opening in 1995, we have provided our services to 437 boys and girls from all over Puerto Rico. Not only this, but we have placed 52 boys and girls into the loving hands of foster families for the adoption process.

Our Main Goal - Fill their life’s with love and hope

In May we received the surprise of one of our boys: when he came to the Home he was not doing any good at school, he lived in thirteen homes before he came to us. He has been with us for one year, now. In May he received a trophy and a medal in his graduation, with the help of our Tutors he graduated with honors.

We received a baby boy, four month old, he was diagnost with a syndrome that he will not be able to walk; with the therapy and care of our personnel now he is one year old and he is starting to walk. He is doing great and the doctors are doing new labs to see what did the job.  We think is the love and care at the Home.

This summer the children were at the Zoo, summer Camps, to Arecibo Light House and other places, we want for them to have every experience they could have, to receive everything they may need, and to enjoy life as a child.

At the beginning of the school period, we have ten kids for the school semester, from Head Start to third grade. Our Tutors are helping them in every way possible to accomplish their school goals of good grades.

This year we started a vegetable garden, to provide food for the Home and to be able to sell some products and get additional funds for the Home.

We were able to buy new beds for the kids, boys and girls.

In August we have a Rubber Duck Race to raise some funds to provide medical supplys and medical services for our kids. We receive de help of Hewlett Packard, Honeywell, Lifescan, Axon, FedEx and other voluntieers.

This are just a few stories of our children's accomplishments.

We work with a staff that is on payroll: 14 Caregivers, Social Worker, Nurse, Cookers, Service Coordinator, maintenance personnel and administrative personnel. There is a Board of Directors who is in charge that the vision and the mission of the organization get accomplished. This personnel are the ones our children see as their help, who care for them, give them hope, love and for all they may need in a process that is very painfull for the kids, helping them heal and be happy kids.

We were monitored by the Department of Justice, Department of the Family, Audited by a CPA annually, and by others organizations and agencies who provide funds. We are thrill to have a 100% of accomplishments in these evaluations.

At the moment we have at the Home fourteen kids, the youngest is a month old and the oldest is seven years old. The baby came went he was four days old. We received four families of siblings, which help in the healing of the traumatic life they, at a young age, have to live. Some of our children have various health conditions and we are continuously working to raise funds to pay for their medical attention and their medicines, besides to provide for all their needs.

Were you to support our efforts, your donation would play a direct role in providing for not only the critical needs of children on an island composed of an almost entirely Hispanic population, half of which works at or below the poverty line, and thus depends on some form of U.S. government financial aid (Women Infants and Children plan, Welfare, food stamps, etc.)—but more specifically for the abused, neglected, and/or abandoned children within that category of the economically disadvantaged. Additionally, your support would minister to the prevention of child abuse and neglect, thereby helping to eliminate the environment of illness and violence-related injury that far too many of the children of Puerto Rico currently endure.

We, at the Home, feel very honor and grateful for the blessing of serving the children, who show us the way every day to bless and be bless by them.

We feel honor for your help and we want to congratulate you because you are part of their accomplishments.

Thank you and God bless you

Teach me, choose wisely, God is good for my life.
Teach me, choose wisely, God is good for my life.

Greetings, from all of us at Hogar de Niños Regazo de Paz.

¿You know that Regazo de Paz means Lap of Peace? Yes, we are a Home for Children, a Lap of Peace. Our goal is to give them a home full of care, love and peace.

Let me explain a little why it is so important your support, and why we are counting on your help:

-We fight poverty - providing for our children, abuse and abandoned children, for all their basic needs, medical services, tutorial, recreational activities and everything they may need.

-Ensure adequate housing - by providing an adequate Home with all the commodities, secure and appropriated, for them to enjoy and have a good environment, with a great place to play and to give them the challenges to a very healthy growth.

-Reduce abuse – though our program Älerta estudiantil” (Students Alert) of prevention, we have provided documentation and presentations in schools, churches and other places to prevent the abuse of children.
And teach how you can discipline in a correct way; to teach how the things are done not with screams and/or abuse. This past year we were invited to various schools and churches.

This past year we received 37 kids, girls and boys, from different parts of Puerto Rico; from 2 days old to 7 years old.  They received for all their basic needs, specialize medical services, nutrition, medicines, school transportation, tutorial with our two tutors, recreational activities, sports and everything they need, some with special needs received special medical attention.

We feel very pleased to be part of their lives and to provide for them.  We are blessed to be part of their restoration,
to see some of them going with adoptive parents; to see how they change their sadness to a very happy and healthy child.  Being part of a child’s restoration is something very impressive and makes you feel that you are part of his/her live and it is important that you do your best.

Since we opened the Home in 1995, we have received and served 567 kids from all over Puerto Rico. You are part of this project, of their lives, of their future, because we are working towards a better world for our children.

Thank you in every specia l way for your support and love for our children, who are the recipients of everything we do and receive at the Home. Merry Christmas.

  • As we start the summer, our children are looking forward to assist to summer camps, go to water parks and other places to have some fun.  We provide for them to have a life as normal as possible, working in helping them to live a child’s life.

  • Our personnel received different training to help them be prepared for every situation.
  • We feel grateful of receiving recognition for our accomplishments and work with our children.
