The Hong Kong Pride Parade promotes equal rights for and anti-discrimination against the LGBT community. By showing the different faces of our community, it facilitates respect for diversity in the society. When it happens on the busiest streets in Hong Kong, it is the best public education. The Hong Kong Pride Parade is a non-profit making organization. It has created an open platform for LGBT groups and organizations to show themselves to the world and to advocate for diversity and inclusion.
Currently, Hong Kong has no legal protection against discrimination on grounds of sexual orientation. As a result, the LGBT community faces discrimination in housing, employment, education and immigration etc.
Hong Kong Pride Parade needs support to convey the message of LGBT equality to a wider audience in Hong Kong. With 8,900 participants in Hong Kong Pride Parade 2014, the number of participants has been on a continual raise. To accommodate for a greater crowd of supporters and to convey the voice of the LGBT community to the Hong Kong society, the Hong Kong Pride Parade is in need of support.
A parade with a great diversity of people parading down the street is the best public education for fostering an inclusive society, in which LGBT people can be treated equally. Our goal is to achieve a just and safe environment for LGBT people in Hong Kong.
