Better Family Foundation organised a nine day HIV/Sex-ED Day camp for youth at risk in Fundong during the last summer break. This was done in partnership with Peace Corps Cameroon program and Nourish students International from the United States of America. Part of the funds were from the above mentioned organizations with a little portion from the funds raised through Global Giving.
The camp was very successful and seventy participants were in attendance. During the workshop participants had lunch, workshop materials and handouts. Also cultural views on issues of sexuality were exchanged between the Cameroonian youth and the American students.
The results of the nine day workshop were very positive as the silence that surround sex issues among the Cameroonian youth were broken and the youth could discussed these issues with their peers and parents very freely as opposed to the past. We believe that the results of the workshop will have both present and far-reaching effects on the Fundong community and beyond.
We look forward to organise another workshop in another community during the next summer if we will get some funds. We heartedly thanks all the actors who contributed finacially and morally to make this workshop a sucess.
