Our HDU continues to support puppies like Munna

Since our last report, the busy puppy season finally started to wind down as we entered February. We then started to see more older and larger puppies needing our help. These curious pups are beginning to explore the world around them and are venturing further away from their mums. Unfortunately, this means that we have been treating an increasing number of puppies suffering from wounds due to accidents, including road traffic injuries.

In fact, over the years we have noticed a shift in vehicle usage in India, from mopeds and motorbikes to an increase in car use. This has unfortunately resulted in an increase in the severity of road traffic injuries caused to dogs and puppies.

This is perhaps why we have been seeing a rising number of dogs and puppies that require the specialised care of our High Dependency Unit. One such puppy, is this very sweet and affectionate boy that we have named Munna, which means ‘young one’ in Hindi. We think he is around 7 months old.

When we rescued him, he had a broken jaw, most likely caused by a traffic incident. Thankfully, our veterinary team successfully operated to wire his jaw. With our support, he has recovered well. Although the jaw remains slightly misaligned, he is eating well, has a wonderfully wagging tail, and is incredibly affectionate. We think the photos show how much happier he is now that he can eat comfortably.

Thank you for your ongoing support of our very special High Dependency Unit. It truly does make a difference to all the animals requiring our care. We couldn't do what we do without you.
