Progress report

  1. SUMMARY

Luhira Primary School is a public school located in Ruvuma region in Songea district. The school accommodates students’ normal students and those with special needs such as vision, hearing impairment and albinism. The Visually Impaired pupils have been attending classes with other normal pupils and thus face difficult to catch up in their studies due to visual impairment. In order to enable these beneficiaries study in a conducive environment, Social Action Trust Fund(SATF), took initiative to raise fund on behalf of Luhira Primary school via the GlobalGiving platform.

The fundraising period took place from 10th to 28th June,2019 whereby a total of TZS 1,786,004(USD 780) was utilised. The fund was thus used to purchase a total of 8 brand new Sony voice recorders-ICD PX 470. The 8 voice recorders were handed over to Luhira Primary School on 21st October,2019 in the presence of beneficiaries and teachers from Luhira Primary School.

This report, presents the progress of the proejct after the handingover  the 8 voice recorders to Luhira school.

To create aconducive learning environment for Visual Impaired pupils.

1)      It has motivated the Visual Impaired pupils to attend classes,

2)      The Voice recorders has enabled pupils with blindness to be self-reliant (i.e. not dependent on other pupils for revisions) and able to catch up during class session by having a chance to revise the sessions after classes,

3)      The voice recorders have assisted the pupils to recite and write well english vocabularies clearly.,

4)      The Voice recorders have assisted the beneficiaries to attend various assignments provided in class and revise thus improve their academic performance.

Indeed, the Voice recorders have been the rightful remedy towards the learning and teaching challenges of the Visual Impaired pupils in Songea. We look forward to have improved academic performance.

Our aim is tosupport of 142 Voice recorders so as to provide a conducive studying environment for these pupils at Luhira Primary School. Therefore, we call upon our existing Donors to contri more and spread the word in order to support our cause.

With greatest joy, we extend our special appreciation to our individual Donors who have contributed and also GlobalGiving for enabling such donation platform. Thank you so much for your generous contributions, we look forward for your continued support.
