Update on Somali Mental Health Project

By Paul D. Saltz | Project Manager for Grants and Development

CIP really does look forward to launching this pilot program and collaborating with the likes of Etheopian Tewahedo Social Services to help local Somali children get the care that they need.

As an incentive for giving to this project, all donations of $50 or more will recieve a 2015 CIP membership! New this year with your CIP membership is a member card that will include discounts from local international restaurants. Many of these restaurants participated in the 2014 International Taste of Columbus. So this is an opportunity to patronize these amazing establishments at a discounted rate, while helping local Somali children.

After careful consideration of input we have received from other organizations and Board Members, we have decided not to go forward with this project. It was determined that CIP does not have the proper clinical support to properly execute this program and the concern is that we would be doing more harm than good. While much effort was put into laying the foundation, outside of staff salary's there were no funds spent directly on this project. As such, this project is officially being ended and we will not be revisiting it again. As we are deactivating this project, funds raised will go into our Youth Advocacy Program, where our International Professionals in Residence provide much needed resources in the form of extra hands and expertise to local agency's serving youth across Central Ohio. If you are not happy with how these funds will be used, please contact GlobalGiving at customerservice@globalgiving.org or at (202) 232-5784 to request the GlobalGiving guarantee. We also encourage you to support the other many worthy projects here on Global Giving.
