Hear from a few families you have helped

Dear Supporters ~
We wanted to let you know that your donations are already hard at work in our community of patients and families living with cystic fibrosis.  Here are a few stories about families we have assisted with Extended Hospital Stay Grants most recently.
"We heard about Claire's Foundation and the extended hospital stay grant through Kerrigan's social worker at Children's National Medical Center and then she made a family referral to their foundation.
We have had numerous lengthy hospital stays in Kerrigan's 6 years.  Recently, we spent a total of 67 days inpatient.  Kerrigan had a CF exacerbation and while fighting that she developed sepsis and started to throw blood clots.  Anytime being inpatient, it's hard financially because you have expenses while in the hospital (food, drinks, laundry, parking, gas for the rest of the family to travel to visit, etc..) However, the family that is left back at home has expenses too.  My husband worked while taking care of our 10 year old son, Cameron.  So, when hospitalized the expenses double.
Claire's Place Foundation reviewed the social workers referral for the extended hospital stay grant and approved our family. They paid one of our larger monthly bills and that allowed us to take the money we didn't have to use for that bill and place it towards one of her hospital bills.
The quote:  "We make a living by what we get but we make a life by what we give!"  That fits Claire's Foundation perfectly and we hope to pay it forward someday ourselves."  ~ Kerrigan's Mom
"I am the mother of an 18 year old son with Cystic Fibrosis. My son has spent many nights in the hospital up at Stanford Children's Hospital the last several years.  I am unable to hold down a full time job due to the amount of care my son requires.

"During one of our hospital stays, I was having a very hard time paying my mortgage at home and being 8 hours away in the hospital with my son Caleb. It was at that time, our social worker introduced us to Claire's Place Foundation. I was grateful that this foundation could help meet my financial needs in such a desperate and painful time. They paid my mortgage in full for the month my son was hospitalized!  It was also actually very helpful that they paid the grant directly to the bank rather than to me, it took a few extra steps off my plate and gave me great peace of mind.
I'm very grateful for organizations like this one! They truly do save us CF families."  ~ Caleb's Mom
We try to post real families that your donations are helping a few times a month so please take time to visit our website for updates.
Thank you so much for your generosity ~
