COMPASSION IN ACTION TOWARDS CARAMA
SURVIVORS CAN COMFORT THEM
The Survivors of Carama flooding lost their beloved ones and belongings, due to the heavy rains of Sunday, February 12, 2014. These torrential rains and landslides killed over a 100 people, including children, women and men, and over 200 people were injured, 12,000 displaced in Bujumbura and around 3,000 houses destroyed. Still many of them they do not have a shelter, where they can live in peace and security.
The survivors of Carama flooding are still waiting in hope in their painful journey that one day, some people who care, will make them smile again. Remember, during the Bujumbura flooding, one couple lost their 6 children, killed by torrential rains. Today, some of those who lost their homes in Carama are living in the remains and others are still in displacement camps and schools. They are still in great need of permanent shelters where they can live with their families.
To build one home it costs $998, a home that can accommodate a family of 7 to 10 people. . A home is one of the most important things which contribute to the good living and security of a human being. Until our project is fully funded, we will be sending you regular reports about our work. You'll know what your donation has helped fund, what accomplishments we have achieved and what our current needs are.
I continue to hope and believe that donors will consider making donations to this project, so that we can help the survivors of Carama rebuild their homes. Thank you so much for your consideration to help JRMD make a difference in Carama survivor community.
