Just $100 a month can sponsor a student at BPP. Students at our schools gain access to job-targeted education, like computer science, to become industry leaders in their local communities and leave poverty behind. Help us provide programming for five more students in 2020!
Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco is a massive tourist destination, but socioeconomic and residential segregation has occurred as a result of rapid development. About 20 miles from the beaches of Puerto Vallarta sits the community of Campestre Las Canadas. Some parts of the town have no roads, and in the summer many paths are flooded preventing residents from getting to the touristic center of Puerto Vallarta for work or school.
Our Canadas school serves local children ages 6-12, and offers English and Computer Skills as core classes, with a large variety of rotating elective courses: Art, Music, Gardening, Leadership, Theater, Computer Science, and Sports. No programming costs are passed to our students or their families. As such, we are fundraising to provide more spaces for students. $1000/year covers BPP's costs for educating one student.
This project provided supplemental education to 111 children in 2019 and hopes to reach even more in 2020. Our students are better prepared to succeed in secondary school and continue on to work in the local economies or attend higher education. Many of our students go home to share what they've learned with their families, providing widespread benefits.
