Remansito is a community next to the Paraguay River. The city suffers from floods periodically, as in 2014, when the river rose and forced 300.000 people to evacuate their homes. Remansito was one of the most affected communities. Hence, we started running the Remansito Community Center, which facilitates access to food, health and education for over 1300 children and their families, aiming for a long-term improvement in quality of life. We need your donations to keep that work going!
We have insufficient funds to give adequate attention to all children, especially in food and health. Without the food complement, they stop coming to the Community Center and return to the circle of poverty. The consequences are malnutrition, school desertion, teenage pregnancy, unemployment, addictions and violence. We can now work with only 20% of the children of the community and to produce a change, we must reach 100% in the short term.
Increasing the supply of food and strengthening health care, we will be ensuring the assistance of the children that assist to the Center. This will allow us to continuously care for their health and give them the stimulation and the necessary school support they need in order to prevent them from dropping out of school. We can also continue incorporating new children and their families to this program.
In the short term we will take care of the nutrition and stimulation for children who are currently attending to the Center, and reduce the rates of school failure. We can also increase the amount of children to be cared for from 1300 to 2000 to March of next year. Likewise we can provide training on family planning, prevent teenage pregnancy and addictions, give psychological assistance to women and children victims of family violence and help them improve their financial and social conditions.
