Talobeeg Foundation will bring 120 young people in Garowe together through football, creative activities, and practical life-skills sessions. With trained coaches and community mentors, participants will build friendships across neighborhoods, develop confidence and teamwork, and learn about safer pathways toward education, skills, and employment. The project will offer young people a place to belong and a chance to shape a more hopeful future at home.
Many young people in Garowe have few affordable, structured opportunities for sport, recreation, and creative expression. Limited opportunities for education and work can deepen frustration and lead some to consider dangerous journeys toward Europe. Young people need welcoming spaces where they can connect with others, develop their abilities, and find reliable guidance about their options.
Talobeeg will support six youth football teams with coaching, basic equipment, and regular matches. Football will be paired with creative workshops, community events, and sessions on teamwork, peaceful conflict resolution, wellbeing, and the risks of irregular migration. Mentors will help participants identify relevant education, training, and livelihood opportunities. Young women and young men will have meaningful ways to participate, with activities designed for their safety and inclusion.
The project aims to help young people strengthen their sense of belonging, build positive relationships across communities, and make informed decisions about their futures. By connecting football with mentoring and creative expression, Talobeeg hopes to establish a youth-led model that local coaches and community partners can continue beyond the first year.
