Eh!Copate is a hands-on education programme that empowers 120 argentinean students from Cordoba's public schools with the skills and confidence to launch their own community-benefiting environmental projects.
Cordoba has lost 97% of its native forests to agriculture and land use change, resulting in severe impacts to hydrological cycles and weather patterns. In the summer of 2015, severe floods affected thousands of families and caused great economic and material losses, including lives. Urgent action is needed to tackle the growing environmental crisis, yet visibility of the issue and citizen participation is still very low. It is the new generations who will bear the burden of decisions made today.
Eh!Copate will equip 120 young people living in communities affected by climate change in Cordoba with the support, tools and skills needed to take environmental action and create a positive impact in their communities. Moreover, through the creation and launch of their own projects tackling issues such as water scarcity, energy consumption, biodiversity conservation, waste and disaster preparedness, young people will develop and practice 21st century skills critical to their own success in life
Through experiential, real-world learning, Eh!Copate nurtures a new generation of young changemakers who will go on to becoming environmental leaders and advocates, inspiring their communities to follow suit. With your help, we will support the launch of 30 youth-led environmental projects in Cordoba (Argentina), equip 120 young people in public schools with critical skills for their future and bring youth to the forefront of local climate action.
