We Win's mission is to raise money to help young survivors afford crucial therapies on their long road to rehabilitation. Physical therapy is the one and only proven treatment for many disabling injuries and illnesses (spinal cord injury, brain injury, stroke, brain tumor, neurodegenerative disorders, etc.). But because of financial restraints, many are forced to give up on fighting for their potential and fighting for their dreams. Above all, we want to empower them to hope, to fight & to win.
Therapy costs are astronomical and survivors need dozens upon dozens of therapy sessions per year. Paying for therapy out-of-pocket can put an impossible burden on families along with the many hospital bills, pricey home modifications and expensive accessibility equipment that all might be necessary following a catastrophic injury. Apart from being emotionally and physically devastating, disabilities are insanely expensive and we all need to do our part in helping those who need it the most.
Because of the immense generosity of all of you, we're able to help young survivors access life-changing, and sometimes even life-saving, therapy. We raise funds and use that money to award grants to individuals who have applied for assistance and met some basic criteria. We then pay the specific rehabilitation center in exchange for therapies provided to our recipient. We Win is a volunteer-based nonprofit and nearly 100% of our proceeds go directly to therapy for our recipients.
Therapy can be life-changing, for individuals and their families, because even a slight gain in therapy can mean a significant improvement in quality of life. Therapy essentially helps restore one's independence - the independence that was stolen away because of injury. That independence can manifest itself as being able to dress oneself or even being able to walk again. Everyone deserves a chance to fight for their potential and in turn, fight for their dreams.
