Leeds Women's Aid has been working for over 50 years to support women & children to live in safety, free from Domestic Violence & Abuse. We provide a range of the very best services for vulnerable women and families who are victims and survivors of: domestic, sexual & honour-based violence and abuse; forced marriage; trafficking; stalking and harassment.
1 in 4 women experience domestic violence over their lifetime. Anyone can experience domestic violence and abuse (DV&A), regardless of race, ethnic or religious group, class, disability or lifestyle. DV&A can include physical and sexual assault as well as emotional and financial abuse and control. Since the Domestic Abuse Act 2021, children are recognised as victims of DV&A in their own right. This is a significant milestone in the sector's approach to supporting victim-survivors.
We provide a comprehensive and wide range of services to support women and children experiencing and living with domestic violence & abuse. Our services include a 24/7 telephone helpline, webchat, emergency refuge accommodation, discreet drop-in services, healthy relationship programmes, legal support and advocacy and specialised support for children and young people.
We help and support hundreds of women and families each year. The aim of our work is to give women and families affected by domestic violence and abuse the confidence and strength to move onto safe independent living, improve their life chances and provide them with the best possible chance of living a life free from domestic violence and abuse.
