In eastern DR Congo, 100 women survivors of sexual violence in Goma, Beni, Masisi, Nyiragongo, Lubero, and Kabare are rebuilding their lives through entrepreneurship training and small business support. This project provides business skills, startup kits, and mentoring so women can earn income, care for their families, and reduce the risk of further violence and extreme poverty.
Armed conflict in eastern DR Congo has left thousands of women survivors of sexual violence trapped in poverty, trauma, and unemployment. In Goma, Beni, Masisi, Nyiragongo, Lubero, and Kabare, many women are abandoned by their families after rape and struggle to feed their children. Most humanitarian aid is temporary, leaving survivors vulnerable to exploitation, repeated violence, and extreme economic insecurity.
This project will help 100 women survivors of sexual violence in eastern Congo rebuild their lives through entrepreneurship training, mentoring, and small business support. Women will learn practical income-generating skills, receive startup tools, and launch small businesses such as tailoring, farming, food vending, and soap making. Sustainable income will help them care for their children and regain independence and dignity.
This project will help women survivors of sexual violence create sustainable livelihoods and break the cycle of poverty in eastern DR Congo. As women earn income, children return to school, families become more stable, and communities grow stronger. The project also reduces vulnerability to exploitation and armed groups while promoting women's economic independence, dignity, and long-term recovery.
