Ricardina is a mother of 4. She started her entrepreneurial journey selling small kitchen utensils and working as a part-time agent for a local input supplier. After building market linakges within her community, she opened her own agro-inputs shop in the town of Chimoio.
In 2020, Ricardina attended an iDE training on business planning, and shortly after became a Farm Business Advisor (FBA). As an FBA she provides her clients with the knowledge and products they need to grow more and better products, and helps them to adopt an entrepreneurial mindset in managing their farms. Ricardina has also been an active player in multiple Input Technology and Trade Fairs, which have enabled her to access new clients and expand her market base. Her business now serves a client base of over 1,750 and employs a team of 20, ten of whom are women.
She has also benefited from iDE’s efforts to increase access to finance in our program areas. Armed with stronger knowledge of business management gained through iDE’s training, Ricardina qualified for her first loan.
Ricardina is not only a successful entrepreneur. She is also a role model for the growing number of women entrepreneurs in Mozambique who are leveraging new knowledge and support to become drivers of change in their communities. The GlobalGiving project enables iDE to support a higher number of women FBAs such as Ricardina as well for her to become a key contributor to scale the program in her community.
Thank you for your support towards empowering women entrepreneurs in Mozambique.
