There was a time when a woman could start selling anything from her home - cookies, handmade cards - pretty much anything. Now, the market is so competitive, that it is not enough to have a good product. You need to be able to sell online and to be able to understand supply chain, packaging, pricing and product positioning.
This is how your funds will be used. Training women SMEs in Pakistan is not about ticking boxes, but about creating genuine opportunities for products to reach clientele and to do so in a safe, economically viable and scaleable way.
In Pakistan, often people pay by COD which is cash on delivery. That means a woman can make a custom made personalized cake and then the client can change their mind last minute and the baker is completely out of all costs and cannot sell to anyone else. This is why online payments and systems of checks and balances are necessary and an important proteciton.
Further, women smes generally do not know how to keep back books or accounts so at the end of the day they may have no clue of hidden costs.
