Help us transform an impoverished remote village in central China! This project enables us to establish an Early Learning Center for children left behind by migrant parents. It also helps us put in place a Family Center where we will train struggling caregivers and village elders to provide proper loving care and the crucial early intervention needed to mitigate damage to their vulnerable children, so all children can reach their full potential.
In rural China today, more than 61 million children of migrant workers are left behind in the care of grandparents or relatives who are struggling to simply keep them fed. 23 million of those children are under seven years old. Most of the children see their parents only once a year (15% not even that), during the New Year holiday. They are China's "economic orphans."
Your support helps us implement programs that mitigate the damage to children 0-6 who are left without nurturing, responsive care during their most critical early years. With your help, we will establish an Early Learning Center in a village with a progressive curriculum designed to promote healthy social, emotional and cognitive development. We also put in place a Family Center and train the adults who remain in the village to help care for and nurture their most powerless small citizens.
The long-term impact of providing quality early childhood care that enables at-risk young children to reach their potential is incalculable and extends to future generations. Our programs, are designed to be scalable and sustainable so they can be replicated in China's 680 designed "poverty counties."
