The "Help Victims of Sexual Abuse Heal" project was a success. We were so grateful to see all interested parties, friends, family and other supportive groups participate in our fundraising campaign. The Campaign has allowed us to finish the Empowerment and Recovery program, HEAL. We are about to launch this program in book form to the public. This way, survivors will be able to access our curriculum in their location of choice. Program HEAL provides survivors with a program they deserve in order to experience lasting recovery and freedom from the effects of sexual abuse. Program HEAL has over 200 cited research studies and has been peer reviewed by survivors themselves. HEAL is based on adult learning and participatory models with an emphasis on programming led by peers who have gone through similar experiences during and after sexual abuse. The curriculum provides tangible resources and interactive tools encouraging victims to connect with a community of other survivors.
In this project, our donor’s contributions have allowed us to connect with more excited supporters who are anxious to see our work released. It is our hope that we will be able to continue our impact as our new projects on Global Giving are announced. In one of our recent groups a survivor shared the biggest lesson learned from HEAL, "I learned that how I was treated is called abuse and that the negative characteristics that have burdened my life were a result of that abuse. I am thrilled to have learned how to change my life and now have the hope that things will be better in my future."
Thank you to all who are with us in this fight to help victims of sexual abuse overcome their past, stop the abuse from continuing and tap into their potential.
