Your support enabled Uyghur mothers to join the local labor market
"Thank you very much. My child now wakes up every morning excited to go to childcare. He is happy there since he has toys to play with, and friends, and he is learning numbers too. That is a big relief for me since now I can go to work while my child is taken care of at the childcare".
This is a thank you message from an Uyghur mother in Istanbul. She is one of many Uyghur women who are the only breadwinner for their families. Childcare responsibilities have been one of the obstacles to their entry into the local labor market. They have no one to look after their children if they go to work.
Empower Communities Charitable Trust provided Childcare Support Grants to 36 Uyghur mothers in three Uyghur Childcare Centers, paying half their monthly childcare costs for six months (Jun-Dec 2022). The required amount was $3,000 USD, paid directly to the Childcare Centers.
