This project will assist Uyghur mothers whose employment is jeopardized because they cannot afford to pay for childcare.
Since 2017, Uyghur men have been unable to return to Turkey from China. Spouses of those unfortunate victims are forced to become the sole provider for the family without any support. Despite the difficulties, some of these resilient Uyghur women attempt to start a small business or find a job to support themselves and their children. Prior to finding a living wage job and acquiring skills, not being able to pay for childcare has been deterring these strong women from becoming working mothers.
For those who seek to start a new business and find new employment, this project will cover the childcare payments in the first six months.
Currently, childcare costs 500 - 600 Turkish Lira per child per month. The payment is made directly to the childcare providers. In the first round, this project will assist 27 Uyghur mothers allowing them to start a small business or settle into a new job without worrying about childcare costs.
