We work in a rural community of Selwane Limpopo, South Africa. Each year we travel between 19-20,000km to give free veterinary care to dogs, donkeys and wildlife; additionally we also work with a program for underprivileged or orphaned children. We have been using our own vehicles but with the high number of kilometres and wear and tear, our cars have had it. We are now trying to run an organisation with one vehicle and it limits the amount of work we are able to do.
The problem we are facing, is that we need to purchase a high clearance bakkie/ute/pick-up to enable us to continue our life saving work in the community of Selwane. We travel 19000-20,000km per year and need a reliable car to get us to and from the community. We attend the community 3-4 days a week offering free veterinary care to dogs, donkeys and wildlife whilst also offering a nutritious meal and education about conservation and animal welfare to orphaned and underprivledged children.
If we are able to purchase a rescue vehicle this will allow us to be in the community more. At the moment, we are limited and sometimes we aren't able to get in there as our own vehicles are out of commission or being used. When we receive calls for animal emergencies, we need to leave immediately and since we don't have an ARRC car, there isn't always one available.
The long term impact of buying an ARRC vehicle is that our presence in the community can be more frequent and reliable and we are able to respond to animal emergencies immediately. Ultimately we are saving more animals and being present with our education projects, leading to more successful projects and outcomes.
