2021 started at a gallop!
We have already graduated 50 students through the Permaculture bootcamp and are now busy deliveing with the 11-week leanership at Rocklands Abundance Centre in Mitchells Plain, Cape Town.
We have entered a fomal patnership with the Department of Envionmental Affairs- which means that we have accessed stipends for participating students. This is important because many of our students stuggle even to cove their transport costs to class.
South African communities have been hit had by the Covid-19 lockdown - and we now have 52% of poor communities living below the food poverty index and unemployment is now at 50%.
This makes our work even more important - as we desperately need to build resilience in our most vulnerable communities. We do this by focussing on the individual - we believe that it is capacitated individuals that can change their lives, their communities and the world.
Our Alumni-led enteprise (https://easypeasy.org.za) grows from stength to strenght - and has just pivoted its offeing to two products - both aimed at growing a culture of home food gardening in Cape Town. This enterpise now employs 10 people and we are witnessing the transformational potential of growing capacity and jobs where people live.
We thank you for your support of this project.
