The boy was 6 years old. First his mother was infected with HIV then his father was infected with HIV and he has an elder sister who lives with us now. Due to his poor condition and in the beginning, he had constant stomach problems. His parents decided to place him in a shelter home like DESIRE Society and they sought the help of Government Hospital and they referred him to DESIRE Society. His height & weight on admission time was bare minimal. We provide him with supplementary diet like Pediasure protein powder calcimax and Zincovit syrup to get improve his body and immune system.
He lives in DESIRE Society for the last 6 years.
Improvement of child
He goes to school regularly.
He is a happy child. He likes living with his roommate because he is an older boy than some of the children in the care home and he takes care of the other children. He likes to watch TV and play sports. Always enjoys playing with other children when any sports program is organized at the center.
But over a period of 6 years, with constant care and support from our team at care home, his condition improved significantly. A balanced diet brought his weight back to normal. Anti-retroviral treatment and regular monthly medical check-ups are done under the supervision of Government Hospital doctors and our staff.
