Now, as a result of a full-scale war, we have a huge number of homeless animals inside the country. We receive dozens of requests from shelters, volunteers, refugees to take care of their animals. We also receive requests for the evacuation of animals from the combat zones. Due to that we began to sterilize all these animals to prevent ecological disaster in that region. But we don't have enough money to continue this project so we are asking for your support!
Because of the war there is a huge amount of abandoned and lost animals who end up getting homeless and stray. Adoption level of animals in Ukrainian shelters is currently very low - maximum 2-3 animals per month. That is why we believe that it is necessary to apply a systematic and comprehensive approach to solving the problem and prevent ecological disaster. And the most effective and humane way to solve the uncontrolled growth of street animals is sterilization.
1.The main goal of this project is to sterilize as much animals as we can. 2. We also want to outline roles, responsibilities, and collaboration framework with local animal welfare groups/organizations and veterinarians. 3. And last but not least is to spread an information about the importance of spay/neuter and responsible pet ownership.
In general it takes 7 years to completely neuter all homeless animals in one region, but we already have a good start! During 2023 we managed to sterilize more than 20 000 animals on the deoccupied territories in the east of Ukraine. We would be extremely grateful if you could help us to continue this program in 2024!
