Warrick Animal Guardians or WAG is constantly being asked to help animals in need at Warrick County Animal Control. Most of the time it is a stray that got into a bad situation or an owner lacked knowledge regarding their pets needs that caused an issue. However, recently Warrick Animal Guardians was called in for a different reason.
Meet Bailey, Goldie, Koko, and Macy. Sadly, all four senior canines were left homeless after their owner died of cancer. The owner had been having medical issues with no family close to give him help. While he loved his dogs, three of the four had major medical issues that had not been met due to his own issues.
When their owner passed away and with no family to take them Animal Control was called to pick them up. Once the officers arrived it was clear these girls need more than just a new home.
Bailey, a 9-year-old, Bichon Frise was fairly healthy and only needed a good groom. She was adopted into a new home easily.
However, Goldie an 8-year-old, Bichon Frise, had bladder stones for years that caused her pain. She was hurting and needed surgery immediately. Due to this problem she also required a special diet. She also needed groomed and had a horrible ear infection.
Macy, a 9-year-old, Bichon Frise, had very bad dental disease and needed a dental. Her dental ended up being more costly than usual and she had many teeth that needed to be extracted. She also had to be groomed.
Finally, Koko, a 9-year-old Labradoodle was horribly obese weighing in at 113 pounds. She had several pressure sores, needed a groom and had a bleeding tumor that was infected.
Without the assistance of WAG all four of these dogs would not have been groomed or up dated on vaccinations, dewormer and flea medications. Thankfully, they all tested negative for heartworms.
The three dogs needing lifesaving surgeries for their medical complications was provided for by Warrick Animal Guardians and happily Goldie and Macy were just adopted yesterday.
Koko is still looking for her new owners and will continue to take her medications while waiting again thanks to WAG.
At most animal control facilities across America animals just like Goldie, Koko and Macy are euthanized due to a lack of funds. Thankfully because of donors like you we can make a difference in their lives and continue to save animals in need!
