Project Report | Jun 30, 2023
We are training more staff to be ready to respond to emergencies

By Riel Andaluz | Sr. Manager for Corporate Partnerships

Save the Children Philippines invests in the capacity of its staff and partners to address the needs of children in times of emergency.
25 Save the Children Philippines staff and four (4)  partners were trained and completed the Humanitarian Operations Foundation Course (HOFC) 2023. HOFC is a training course designed to strengthen humanitarian workers’ core competency in humanitarian operations and programming.
This year's iteration is composed of two phases. The first phase is a webinar series that ran through March to May, giving the participants the introductory information about the humanitarian system, humanitarian principles, code of conduct, core humanitarian standards, and technical sectors. The second phase is a six-day residential training, held last May 21 to 27, that aims to improve the participants’ awareness, behavior, knowledge, and skills on responding at the onset of emergencies both natural and human-induced humanitarian contexts and operations.
In these challenging times, our aim is to build the families and children's resilience on the negative impact of climate change such as extreme weather events and disasters. So we continuously work in increasing the capacity of our staff to be able to deliver quality and inclusive emergency responses when needed.
Together, let’s build a better world for and with children.

With your support, you are helping us respond to the next emergency.  Thank you very much!
