As of last week (March 7th), an international organization started providing bulk food for us to pack and distribute to families who are either staying in Moldova for a while, or who are tranistioning to the West. We are able to process about 100 boxes per day, but to scale that up we need to finish our conference room. We also want to prepare two classrooms and a small playground, since 1/2 of refugees are children, and keeping them busy allows parents to work.
Since we're an international project, we have a wide network, and this morning (February 24th), we started getting frantic calls and messages of friends in Ukraine who are already on their way here, so we're going to help them.
After they arrive and catch their breath and check in with their friends and family, our visitors will have an opportunity to help us manage the farm and dorms and kitchen incubator, share their skills and experience to make this experience less traumatic.
Fortunately our network of local growers is already established, our commercial kitchen is functional and our dorm is almost finished, so we can focus on a more sustainable, systematic solution to the problem.
