Move For Hunger is a national non-profit organization that has created a sustainable way to reduce food waste and fight hunger. Essentially, we mobilize transportation companies to connect surplus food to communities in need. Whether we're helping an individual donate their food when they move or recovering a truckload of fresh produce from a farm, Move For Hunger makes it easy to donate food. To date, we have helped provide more than 55M meals to families in need.
47 million Americans rely on emergency food assistance. Each year approximately 40 million Americans relocate. When people move, they throw away "stuff." Unfortunately, a lot of this "stuff" is food that could be delivered to a family in need rather than thrown away. By teaming up with moving companies, multi family communities and relocation professionals across the country, Move For Hunger provides relief for hungry Americans in need.
We have created a national network of relocation, transportation & moving companies working to alleviate hunger in their local communities. For many food banks/pantries, transportation of food is a prohibitive expense that often means losing out on an opportunity for food rescue/meals. By building a network of 1,400+ transportation partners & 3,000 apartment partners Move For Hunger helps to keep food banks' shelves fully stocked year-round and engages communities in hunger awareness initiative
We currently work with over 1400 moving companies & 3000 apartment communities across the United States & Canada. We have collected more than 65 million pounds of food (more than 55+ million meals) since our inception in 2009. This project will enable us to continue to expand our network of movers, relocation companies & multi family properties across North America and allow us to collect over 3,000,000+ lbs of food annually.
