Every year we strive to increase our camper numbers to reduce our waiting lists and meet the needs of the increasing number of children in Ireland with cancer and serious illness.
In 2015 we welcomed over 2,700 campers here to Barretstown and brought the magic of camp to over 2,500 campers in hospitals, schools and communities around Ireland through our Outreach Programmes. That’s over 5,200 campers in 2015, an increase of over 500 on 2014.
In 2016 our ambitious plans continue. We set a target to companies who give via Global Giving to raise $50,000 which will cover the costs for a weekend family camp. We are slowly getting there and are so grateful to all the employees so far that have contributed.
In the words of Dr. Jane Pears, Consultant Paediatric Oncologist, Our Lady’s Hospital Crumlin:
"A stay in Barretstown offers something that we can never achieve in hospital- it gives our patients their childhood back and completes the healing process".
On behalf of us all, thank you so much!
Mark
