Dear Friend,
At just 3-years-old, Marlie was diagnosed with a rare brain tumour. Right after her diagnosis, Marlie required five grueling surgeries. But this was only the start of her horrible journey, with more treatment, and chemotherapy required. It changed everything for Marlie and her parents, Jenny & Craig.
Marlie formed a real bond with her nurse Nessa in hospital, and it turned out that Nessa was also a volunteer at Barretstown. Then Marlie met the Barretstown Outreach team, and her Barretstown journey began.
Marlie visited Barretstown with her family, and experienced the life-changing impact of our Therapeutic Programmes. She was able to laugh and play, and try new things, without her illness holding her back. She was able to be a child again.
“I will always remember the magic and fun of Barretstown camp, my wish is for another family to experience the same” - Marlie's Mum, Jenny
And when Marlie was well enough to return to school, the Barretstown Outreach team helped her return to normal life by visiting her class and speaking to her them about her illness. At every point of Marlie’s difficult journey, Barretstown was there.
Your support and donations made it possible for Barretstown to be there for Marlie and her family and we could not be more grateful – thank you!
