At Footprints 4 Sam, we know that access to medical care means very little if families cannot physically get to the hospital. For many of the vulnerable children and caregivers we support, transport remains one of the biggest barriers to ongoing treatment and chronic care.
Through our Super Sam Hero Vehicle Initiative, we aim to ensure that children living with a chronic and life-limiting illnesses, as well as their caregivers, can safely access the medical care they so desperately need.
Since the launch of this key initiative in Cape Town, our two much-loved ‘Sam se Bussies’ have made an incredible impact:
Behind every kilometre travelled is a child getting to a life-changing appointment, a caregiver feeling less overwhelmed, and a family resolving one less burden during an already difficult journey.
We are now incredibly excited to share a sneak peek into the next chapter of this initiative - the upcoming launch of our very first Jozi Super Sam Hero transport vehicle in Johannesburg!
The new vehicle will support patients attending chronic medical appointments at Rahima Moosa Mother & Child Hospital and will service a large area across Johannesburg, fetching patients from key collection points and transporting them safely to and from their medical appointments.
We are also proud to share that we have officially appointed our Johannesburg driver, who will play a vital role in the project. Beyond simply transporting passengers, our drivers become trusted and compassionate figures in the lives of many families, often offering comfort, kindness and emotional support during stressful medical journeys. We can’t wait for your to meet him!
As we prepare for this exciting launch, we are reminded that none of this would be possible without the generosity of our donors and supporters. Your support continues to fuel practical, compassionate interventions that directly impact the lives of children and families navigating complex medical journeys.
Thank you for helping us keep vulnerable children moving towards the care they need - safely, reliably and with dignity.
We can’t wait to share more news with you on our beautiful ‘Sam se Bussie’ that will be on the roads of Joburg in the coming months!
Until next time,
The Footprints 4 Sam team
