This project will build a learning resource centre in the Bhagawatpur villages of eastern Nepal. The centre will have facilities of a library, computer learning, life skills training, after school club, newspaper and telephone. The villages are isolated and they do not have an access to reading materials (newspapers and books) and facility for online courses. Consequently, this project will improve the reading and writing skills of the people and connect the villages with the global society
NVF supports projects to improve the female literacy because girls' education in Nepal has been ignored. More girls are now in school than ever before in the villages we are working. However, the villages are isolated in many aspects and they do not have access to newspapers, reading materials, communication and facility for online courses. Consequently, the reading and writing skills they have gained, slowly diminish because there is very limited opportunity to use their literacy skills.
The project will develop a learning resource centre in the middle of the villages. The centre will have facilities of a library, computer learning, life skills training, after school club, newspaper and telephone. Having an easy access to a learning centre at their door step will increase the desire and willingness to learn and make use of the available resources. Consequently, this will improve the reading and writing skills of people in the villages and an opportunity to learn new skills.
The desire and willingness to learn amongst women and girls in the villages will be improved by having an easy access to learning centre and online courses at their door step. The reading and writing skills will also be improved by having an easy access to reading and writing materials. The villages will no longer be isolated due to having access to Information Technology, and engagement with people from around the globe.
