Listen and Talk will establish a hearing technology loaner bank serving 200 families/year. Our mission is to help children who are deaf or hard of hearing learn to communicate through listening and spoken language. Children attending Listen and Talk use high-tech hearing devices to give them access to sound. Specialists help them develop the ability to listen when using their hearing devices. The loaner bank will allow for learning to listen even when a personal device is in repair.
Children who are deaf or hard of hearing can learn to listen and talk. A key element to developing the skills to communicate through listening and speaking is the consistent use of great hearing technology. Listen and Talk specialists help each child develop the ability to listen when using their hearing devices. When a child's hearing device needs repair, learning is interrupted. The loaner bank will allow the child to continue to learn while their device is being repaired.
The hearing technology loaner bank will provide hearing technology to any child served by Listen and Talk when their hearing device breaks and needs to be sent in for repair. Access to hearing devices during these times when their personal device is in disrepair, will ensure access to sound, and an uninterrupted learning environment for students as they develop the critical listening skills.
Approximately 200 children will have access to the hearing device loaner bank. This will provide continuity for children who are deaf or hard of hearing served by Listen and Talk to develop their listening and speaking skills during the critical years of their language development even if their personal device is in disrepair.
