On September 7th, it was a different holiday in Guaíra. Families woke up early in the morning and headed to Lake Maracá to take part in a very special program: the third 'Run for Good,' a joint initiative by the Oswaldo Ribeiro de Mendonça Institute (IORM) and the Guaíra City Hall, through the Municipal Department of Sports and Leisure.
Once again, sports proved to be a unifying force. In addition to the residents of Guaíra and participants from other cities like Barretos, Ipuã, Orlândia, Miguelópolis, and Ribeirão Preto, people of all ages, from veterans to children, joined the races or simply took the opportunity to catch up and have fun with the attractions offered by the organizers. Wearing the shirts from the distributed kits, the runners formed a small crowd by the Lake.
The race saw a significant turnout in the categories of '3 km walk' and '6 or 9-kilometer running routes,' with participants as young as 16 years old. Children up to 11 years old took part in the kids' category at the athletics track of Parque Waldemar Chubaci. All the races were supervised by physical education instructors from the municipal network.
There was room for a performance by the Medida Provisória Band and for organized recreational activities: the children also had fun with inflatable games and a bounce house.
"I would like to thank everyone who participated and also the partnership between the city hall and IORM in promoting sports, health, and leisure for our Guaíra community. Sports, besides being about education and health, are also about overcoming challenges. It doesn't matter the age; what matters is participation. Count on us always to organize events like this. Next year, we will do more, and God willing, we will surpass the number of participants". celebrated the Mayor (Junão).
