On one day in November 2025, Negros Island was hit by a magnitude 5.6 earthquake and a category-5 typhoon. The storm (Tino) caused immense damage and killed more than 100 people in the region. The high tide and storm surge damaged the community pier, boardwalk, and restrooms, all of which are necessary for community-based ecotourism. Seacology quickly stepped in and has been funding repairs thanks to supporters like you! The pier is already repaired, and work on the boardwalk is about 80% complete. The communities spirits are high, as locals work togther to clean and repair while Seacology's global network of supporters send aid.
