Fukuoka Elementary School Taylor Bunko Dedicated
On July 18th, a newly created Taylor Bunko arrived at Fukuoka Elementary School in Shiroishi City (Principal Akira Takeda) in Miyagi Prefecture. The bookcase creator Shinichi Endo (TAMF advisor) talked to the children about Taylor and the Taylor Bunko, and applause echoed throughout the school building. When the school's vice-principal, Tetsuya Suzuki, was the principal of Higashihama Elementary School in Ishinomaki City, his school received a Taylor Bunko, and a connection with TAMF was established. It is likely to be a new addition to the library that will be loved by children.
Ishinomaki District English Speech Competition Trophy Awarded
On September 25th TAMF awarded the Taylor Cup to Ms. Hirari Kimura of Ishinomaki Junior High School, who won the Ishinomaki District English Speech Contest in Miyagi Prefecture earlier. The photo shows Ms. Kimura holding the Taylor Cup and a certificate of commendation, Principal Yoshiaki Yamauchi on the left, and TAMF advisor Koichi Otsu on the right. Photographed by Shinichi Endo, TAMF advisor and creator of the Taylor Cup.
School Visit and Readers' Theater
Naomi Chiba, author and TAMF adviser, gave a talk about Taylor and the Taylor reading corner to fifth-grade students at Okaido elementary school in Ishinomaki. She was also honored in August when a Readers' Theater based on her book “A Gift From Taylor” was performed by High school and University students in English at a national conference of the New English Teachers' Association in Higashimatsushima. “A Gift From Taylor” is in each Taylor bunko and helps students learn why they have a Taylor bunko and about the history of 3.11. A workshop on the Readers theater also took place.
