Summary

The Seed of Hope Dorm, in Northern Thailand, boards 33+ children who wouldn't otherwise have access to education. We are seeking to build an education center that will nurture these students' educational pursuits. The center will have a library to give them a love for reading, arts and crafts room where they will learn traditional crafts by their village elders so their heritage will not be forgotten. It will also feature classrooms for students to study and be tutored.

Challenge

Many children from remote villages in Northern Thailand are marginalized due to statelessness (no citizenship). This can isolate them from society and education, making them more vulnerable to human trafficking. At the Seed of Hope Dorm, the students do not have quiet or creative spaces to do homework, learn or to set goals for their future.

Solution

Seed of Hope provides a boarding dorm where vulnerable children can live, learn and become educated in a safe environment with good care. The proposed Education Center will be the means in which to conduct classes put on by village elders to preserve their culture, crafts and language. This building will have a library, arts and crafts room and quiet spaces that will provide a good study environment where the students can begin to pursue their dreams and goals.

Long-Term Impact

The education center at the Seed of Hope will be an environment that will impact this generation and beyond. It will give them potential to learn to love their heritage and will and launch students towards their academic and life-skill goals that will give them hope for a bright future.
