On Friday, October 28, twelve top executives from businesses around the Portland area spent the day building homes at Rivergate Commons in north Portland, for Habitat’s third Executive Build event. Don Pearson, Regional President of Wells Fargo, and Steve Johnson, CFO of The Parr Company, hosted the Executive Build in effort to raise awareness and funds needed to build homes for local hardworking families. These industry movers and shakers traded in their suits and ties for nail aprons and hardhats, stepping out of the office and onto an A-frame.
“The Executive Build presents a unique opportunity to help a deserving family achieve their dream of homeownership,” said Don Pearson, Regional President of Wells Fargo. “This event demonstrates the influence of local businesses in our community. Participation and leadership inspires others to engage. And when our communities succeed, we succeed.”
As well as swinging a hammer and building homes, Wells Fargo donated $10,000, Acme Construction donated $2,500 and The Parr Company also donated $2,500 to Habitat, which will be used to build the Ejigu-Kere family’s home.
“We are so thankful to everyone who came out for this event,” said Dereje Ejigu, future Habitat homeowner. “We are looking forward to having a stable environment for our children. Once our home is complete, the kids will have a home they can live in freely. It will change everything in their lives.”
