Oral Hygiene Day
Oral Hygiene Day
                                                  Oral hygiene day celebrations
Every year, 1st August is observed as Oral Hygiene Day in India to commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr. G B Shankwalkar, the founder of the Indian Society of Periodontology.
Prime Trust along with the Vel Dental Clinic team conducted competitions on oral hygiene for the evening remedial school children on 01/08/2022 at 5:30 pm in Sishubhavan Play School. Our children participated with enthusiasm in various competitions like drawing, speech, and fancy dress. The talks were about the importance of oral hygiene. One of the children demonstrated the steps in brushing our teeth.

Dr. Thangavelu and his team encouraged the children by giving certificates and prizes. The children enjoyed the program. This program was organized by Mrs. Mary, Program Manager, and Mrs. Bhavani, Coordinator, Sishubhavan.

Setting up of a production unit at a Tribal village

With the support of GlobalGiving, we are happy to share that we have started our production unit at a tribal village, Varagapet, Villupuram District, Tamil Nadu. We plan to make bags of all kinds and uniforms.

Prime Trust is planning to adopt this village and initiate programs such as Evening School, Awareness Generation, Health programs, etc.,

We formed a women group who will be trained to make the products. They will also be given a microloan to buy the raw materials required and to meet immediate expenses.

We are now sourcing job work from companies. We hope that the women will be paid a decent wage and it will improve the economic status of their families.

Distribution of micro-loans to the members of SHGs in Puducherry

Formation of SHGs, providing micro loans, linkage to the banks, and offering vocational training skills are core activities of Prime trust. Prime Trust raises support through GlobalGiving to empower women in poverty through a micro-credit program.

Microcredit is a common form of microfinance that involves a minimal loan given to an individual to help them become self-employed or grow a small business. These borrowers tend to be low-income individuals, especially from less developed countries

The Founder Director, Mr S.M. Arasu, along with Mr Denish Kumar, Country Director, LACIM, France were present while disbursing cheques to the women who are willing to start their own business or to invest money with their existing business.

A sum of Rs. 20,000/- to each member was distributed. A small session was conducted on how to use the funds and do a successful business.

Dental camp for community on 31.05.2022
Dental camp for community on 31.05.2022

Prime Trust together with Vel dental clinic organized a free dental camp for the people at Rainbow Nagar and TV Nagar today. Regular dental visits are important because they help to keep our teeth and gums healthy. Dental check-ups prevent plaque, tartar, cavities, and tooth decay. Routine dental visits keep gum disease at bay.

The camp started at 10 am and ended at 1:30 pm. One of the doctors demonstrated the way of brushing our teeth. The individuals were given dental check-ups, the doctors gave the information regarding the precautions and the regular dental care to be taken, and those needing treatment (cleaning, scaling, etc.) were given the needed treatment in the mobile van. Some people were referred to the Vel dental clinic. About 65 people benefitted from the camp - children, women, and men. The participants were given free toothbrushes and toothpaste. The staff was given a free dental kit with toothpaste, mouthwash, toothbrush, gum gel, etc.
