Movers session for the evening school children at Rainbow Nagar
The Movers Programme is a regional movement of volunteers who develop Sustainable Development Goals - SDGs awareness, entrepreneurial mindsets, and 21st-century skills by conducting localized training at a grassroots level. The Movers Programme uses a training-of-trainer approach and works with community partners to target harder-to-reach groups and support Youth Co: Lab’s objective to leave no youth behind.
On 19.11.2022 Prime Trust organized a Movers session for the evening school children at Rainbow Nagar. Mr. Sriram Sankar, an Educational Development Associate, at Project Statecraft handled the Storytelling: Tell your own story session. The children were involved with much interest. This session helped the children to think differently. Prime Trust thanks Mr. Sriram Sankar for his valuable time and input.
Awareness session on HIV/AIDS for the children
World AIDS Day, designated on 1 December every year since 1988, is an international day dedicated to raising awareness of the AIDS pandemic caused by the spread of HIV infection and mourning those who have died of the disease.
On 01.12.2022, World AIDS day awareness sessions were conducted for the children in our Home and Evening Schools by Mary Slessor, Program Manager. The session started with a game. The participants were asked about what they knew about HIV/AIDS. The ways of transmission, how it is not transmitted, HIV test, and Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome was explained. It was a new subject to most of them. Handbills on the HIV/AIDS Act, 2017, and facts and information about HIV/AIDS were given to the participants. The children responded with interest. It was a participatory session.
Children’s parliament in Rainbow Nagar Evening School
The Children’s Parliament is a group of children of a particular village/neighborhood who come together as a group for activities and learning and to represent their interests and opinion to the decision-makers of the village/neighborhood. “Equipping children with the basic concept of the Children’s Parliament provides an opportunity to learn ‘life skills for example, about their rights, health, and education as a result they become aware and contribute to the decision-making process of the administrative system through their life skills learning.”
On 21.11.2022 the children’s parliament was formed in the Rainbow Nagar Evening School. The following children took responsibility as President – Pooja and Vishali, Vice-President – Rikkish, Secretary – Serish, Vice Secretary – Soundary, Treasurer – Kamalini, Sujith
Children’s Day Celebrations
Children's Day is celebrated across India to raise awareness about the rights, education, and welfare of children. It is celebrated on 14 November every year on the birthday of the First Prime Minister of India, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, who was known to have been fond of children. Our Janani home sponsor Mr. Balaji and his friends celebrated children's day with the girls at Janani home. The girls enjoyed being with them.
On 14.11.2022 children’s day was celebrated at the Sishubhavan play school, Muthialpet. Activities like musical chair, bursting the balloon, reciting rhymes, and alphabets, and storytelling was conducted. The benefits of Physical Activities are the children become Emotionally Stable, Social Skills are developed. It helps to improve Mental Health and Physical Health. When children are physically active they get Good Sleep, It improves their Productivity, gives Healthy Skin, improve Brain Development, Builds Stamina, and help in Good Posture and Good Health. The children enjoyed the activities and participated actively. The Program Manager Mrs. Mary Slessor, the play school teacher Mrs. Bhavani and Mrs. Usha, the Assistant were present.
DIWALI CELEBRATIONS – 2022

As the thrilling wait nears an end, here are a few facts about Diwali that will stir up your fervor and enhance your jubilation.
On Saturday, 22nd October 2022, we had Diwali Celebrations at Jananai Home for Girls. The local community, staff members, students for Bachelor’s degree from Idhaya Ars and Science College for Women, Puducherry, and children from Janani Home took an active part. Vel Mobile Dental Clinic was our main sponsor for this event.
The children demonstrated their dancing skills and the interns taught good habits to the children through a skit. The Doctors from the VEL Mobile Dental Clinic taught the children about oral hygiene. Vel Mobile Clinic distributed Gift hampers to the children and staff members followed by fireworks and lunch.
